Mom lurks on the blog, so feel free to throw out a happy b-day of your own. I've recently shown her how to post a comment, so maybe we'll see her here soon. :)

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, but this week is probably going to be pretty thin. I am frantic on deadline to get UNLUCKY out to my cp's. I am teaching a class this week, so no reprieve there, and to top it all off, my allergies have me feeling most awful - drainage, sniffling, sleeping upright so you can breathe. Like I needed anything else keeping me from writing. (sigh) When it rains, it pours.

So I'll put a question to you again today: When you're stretched beyond capacity, what do you give up in order to keep writing?

Happy Birthday, Jana's Mom!

Okay, well, I give up cooking, cleaning (but I hate doing those anyway).

Happy Birthday, BOBBIE! I hope your whole day goes really well. I'm typing one-handed with a one week old lamb in my left arm. Maybe someone will give you a newborn lamb, so you, too, can know true happiness. Hope to see you again soon. Tell Jimmy I said, "Hi." Love, HELEN

wendy - well, heck! I eat out and have someone clean my house. I'm beginning to think there's very little to give up because all I do is work. :)

kelly - yeah, I don't get to read as much and I limit my tv to one show per season. TV can take tons of time.

Hi tori & helen and thanks for the mom birthday wishes!

Thank you, Jana's Mom, for giving the world such a wonderful author. Considering her sense of humor, it couldn't have been easy for you. We appreciate your hard work. Hope your birthday was happy!

Wear a jacket, pair of slacks, or something with a pocket. Keep a tiny notepad or folded sheet of paper and a pen or pencil stub in the pocket. Anytime you are waiting (in traffic, for someone to arrive, on the john) jot down bits of dialogue, ideas for scenes--anything that you want to write about. That way, you can plan your next writing session and remove the stress that you might forget something you wanted to include. Weekends will come and you will get to feeling better. It's best to try to eat healthy foods, or at least swallow a vitamin, and get plenty of rest. The flu is going around--they've closed several shcool districts because of it--so don't put added stress on your body by skipping sleep and nutrition.

Happy Birthday, Jana's Mom! Hope it was a wonderful one! And I hope the coming year is your best one yet!

Wish I had a good answer for you on the writing question, Jana. Just do the best you can - that's all you can do.

Happy belated birthday, Jana's mom!!

I try to cut sleep, but then my eyelids start twitching, like they are right now. Then I have to take time out to sleep, then I'm back where I started.

Must find another thing to cut out of my life. Hey, how about eating?
