Winner & Movie Review

Silly people who read my blog yesterday and didn't take the time to post (and there were a lot of you.....) But without further ado -

The winner of an autographed copy of THE REST FALLS AWAY is Tori!!!!!!

Congratulations, Tori! Please email me your mailing info at jana (at) janadeleon.com

And now off to movie review Friday. I saw two movies last weekend - I'll just hit on one of them for now.

Movie in review: Night at the Museum

Okay, let me start by saying that I'm not a huge Ben Stiller fan. I mean, I would never see a movie just because he's in it, but I wouldn't avoid one either for the same reason. So he's just kinda not on my radar at all. So the star is definitely not the draw here.

The story concept, I felt, was kinda cool but had the propensity to end up being very stupid. Well, I'm happy to say that I didn't find it stupid at all. It was, of course, silly at times, but overall I found it highly entertaining.

The premise of the story, for those not in-the-know, is that Ben Stiller's character takes a job as night security for a museum and after dark, all the displays inside come to life. He's faced with quite a few challenges.

The good thing is, the movie actually provides a reason that this is happening and that made me really happy that they didn't leave out some very relevant backstory.

Other funny actors such as Owen Wilson and Robin Williams played roles as museum displays brought to life and definitely added some fun to the show.

My rating: A Whole Lot of Entertaining Fluff and Fun

Thanks so much!!! :)

And thanks, too, for the positive movie review! I giggle every time I see the ads for NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM. I was hoping it was as good as it looked.

Congrats Tori!

As for the movie...my kids loved it! I haven't seen it yet, but they loved it. Even my 5 yo, who thought it might be too scary, loved it.

Now I have to go see it too!

Thanks for the review! I'm already planning on watching this one because I love the premise. I've always toured museums wondering what it would be like if the mastedon came to life.

I was flat-out shocked by just how much I liked this movie .. Robin Williams hasn't been that funny in years, and the whole thing was just miles smarter than I thought it would be

tori - definately giggle-worthy.

Colleen - yeah, it's not rough on the little ones at all, I don't think. And you would like it.

kimber - it is a great premise, right? I loved the concept too.

reel - shocking isn't it? I got so much more than expected. This was a very pleasant movie start to 2007!

jaye - He would probably love it!

Jana, just a note. I was talking to my mom yesterday and she thanked me again for giving her umble for Christmas. She said she read it all in one weekend and loved it! When I told her about Unlucky, she said she couldn't wait to read that one too.

Thanks so much for telling me, Jaye! I'm thrilled to hear she enjoyed it and worried to death that no one will like UNLUCKY as well. Ah, the life of a writer. (sigh)

The first thing my 10 year old said when the movie was over was "Wow! Can we go to a museum?"

I'm not a Ben Stiller fan either but I really enjoyed this movie.

By the way, I truly loved Rumble too.

Hi rm - thanks so much for your comments on RUMBLE!!! I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I'm kinda with your son - I thought about going to a museum too, but then I figured after the movie it would sorta be anti-climatic. :)
