New Year's Resolutions

It's New Year's Eve - time for 2007 resolutions. I've thought a bit about mine and since I can't stand failure, I haven't exactly made them impossible. But they'll definitely require some work:

1. Make two new book sales. (It has to happen folks, two books a year is the only way a full-time career will be born)
2. Improve diet and add some exercise. (Technically, this is self-defense, since I need more writing time and fattening foods make me sleep more)
3. Take time each week to work on organization until my household is an efficient machine and I don't search for hours for items I know I have before rushing out to buy them and finding them two days later
4. Work at being more fun and less serious. (This one's a long shot, but what the hell)

So what about you? Are you willing to take the challenge and put your resolutions in print for all the world to see? December 31, 2007, I'll pull them from archives and see how we all did.

Volunteers?

I have to figure out what I want to accomplish first. :)

Two novels a year for a full-time career? Interesting. My goals are on my own blog. Just click on my username if you want to read them!

I think organization is vital when a person works out of the home. Otherwise, time is eaten up by running to the store for milk or searching for a sock. It's ridiculous. I'm off to scrub toilets. Oh, joy.

See you next year!

Oooh...that's just too scary for me, you pulling from the archives to check on us.

Uh, I'm with you on the diet and exercise. For self-preservation purposes.

So that's my big resolution.

Tori - I can help. Let's start with watching less tv and getting that book out the door. Woman, your blog reads like the tv guide. :) (btw - are you related to Ally Carter - she's a tv junkie too)

kimber - actually even two books won't get it unless you're really selling well. I believe Lori Wilde (Warner author) said it took four books a year to replace her salary as a nurse. (sigh) But two's definitely a start. I will take a drive over and peek at your resolutions.

Colleen - Like I'm not going to check on you anyway. Like now - what page are you up to????? Ugh on the diet and exercise, right? Maybe I'll just get a hyper thyroid for a month or so. One can always wish.

Happy New Year, Jana!

Your resolutions sound pretty impressive to me! Of course, I don't make any resolutions (just "intentions"...LOL!) so what do I know?

Somehow, I think you'll accomplish all you set out to do in 2007. I don't know about #4 though - you already seem like a pretty fun person to me!

I have a feeling that 2007 is going to be a year of major change for many people - hope that change is for the better for all of us!

Let's make it happen! Let's GO!!

LOL! My name is Tori and an I'm a TV addict. Yes, it's true. And I fear it's worse now that I have more lovely, lovely channels to choose from. *g*

What I really need to do is better manage my daytime schedule. I spend way too much time fiddling around on the Internet.

Kelly - you are well on your way to your goals already. I think 2007 is going to be a great year for writers!

Thanks for the support, sassy. And on #4 - I can be fun but when I'm stressed I have a hard time lightening up - even for movies or jokes or just hanging out. I'm going to work harder on leaving the stress with the work and making the most of my downtime since there's seems to be so little of it lately.

Tori - I have a plan. For the tv addiction, do two things - use tv as a reward for accomplishing your writing goals and everything you can't watch during the week, catch up on the weekends. Believe me, once you sell you won't have weekends off so you should definitely enjoy it now. For the internet, here are a couple of ideas: if you have a laptop, go somewhere where there is no signal. If you don't have a laptop, consider investing in an Alphasmart (and NOT the one with a wireless connection) or head out to a local park, coffee shop, library, etc and write long-hand. The internet is one of the many reasons I'm a cafe writer.

Colleen - 156? Well, I guess I'll let it slide, but that means you owe me 19 pages this week plus whatever you had originally budgeted to write. When do those kids go back to school? :)
