I had the big drawing for the contest winner for the ARC of Rumble. And the winner is (drumroll, please)........
Kathy Sullivan of Garland Texas!!!!!!!!!
Kathy is a member of DARA and a great all-round lady! I am thrilled for her to win the ARC!
I also saw two new movies in the last week and wanted to give you some advice and a warning.
First up - Snakes on a Plane
This movie was fun! Of course, I'm one of "those" people who just LOVE B-horror movies. Now, I want to give you fair warning - I think it was Wikepedia described this movie as "high concept." Uh, not so much. In fact, not at all. It gives the barest minimum explanation for why someone would put a bunch of poisonus snakes on a plane and that's about it. BUT, did I mention the fun factor???? This is definitely a movie you want to catch on a Friday/Sat night when all the teenagers are at the theater. Hearing them all scream is as entertaining as the movie. And this movie has the added merit of actually causing me to jump - once! But a movie hasn't made me jump in years, so Snakes on a Plane get the "one seat jumper" distinction!
Next movie - The WickerMan
I don't think I can begin to describe how much I hated this movie, except to say
I want back my $13 and two hours of my life!!!!!!!!
This is horrible. Totally, TOTALLY predictable and not the least bit interesting besides.
Can someone please, please tell Nic Cage that he has jumped the shark!
Did I mention horrible?

Congrats, Kathy!!!
So... re The Wicker Man... what did you think? *g*
Congrats, Kathy!
And I never really liked Nic Cage until I saw him in National Treasure...then I got a big crush on him. I loved that movie.
LOL Tori - Yeah, I have this whole "keep it to myself" problem sometimes. :)
Colleen - I usually like NC, not necessarily all the movies he does, though. This one in particular is a real stinker.
Couldn't agree with you more about Snakes on a Plane .. it was just pure fun, and I can't believe it did so poorly at the box office .. If I recommend some other B-movie fun from earlier in the year, check out James Gunn's "Slither," if you haven't seen it already ... and Nicolas Cage jumped the shark about 10 years ago!
Hi reel - I will definitely check out Slither. Thanks for the recommendation! I would definitely agree that NC jumped the shark personally, failed relationships, marrying waitresses, but haven't you liked any of his movies in the last ten years????
Now, yeah, I loved National Treasure! That's cool Cage movie. ;D Congrats to Kathy!
Hi Kelly - I loved National Treasure too. But then I always like those action/adventure sort of movies, especially with historical references.
Yay, Kathy!
I am alternately intrigued and terrified of Snakes on a Plane. First the idea of it is just idiot savant enough to make me want to see it. On the other hand, I am terrified of snakes. So the idea of watching a movie about what would be my worst nightmare in a dark theater scares the crap out of me. What if someone wants to make Snakes in the Theater next?
